However motivated you are going to bed- your obligations come at you like a roaring lion in the morning and you have to decide whether to run away or to stand your ground.⠀ ⠀ I’ve had the pleasure to get out of the office yesterday for a nice end of the week hangout with @bubbles_n_blueberries and @julie.soot in Berlin. This was the first non overcast day here in weeks it feels like. Definitely a treat to spend some time together in the sun with the cameras. Thanks guys

We went to Jane’s Carrousel in Brooklyn because – well because the kids love it. They would spend all day on those horses and ride them in circles. @bubbles_n_blueberries overheard a couple talking about how this was their honeymoon and the newly married husband gave his wife Jane tickets for Jane’s Carrousel – They came over from England to the colonies just to ride the horses in brooklyn. Just lovely

Berlin is cold and miserable right now but it has it’s ups and downs weatherwise – like any place I guess. This is last summer when there was just the right amount of clouds and cars when we got commissioned to photograph this new hybrid design hotel in Mitte. Beautiful building with a fantastic concept and great people. One of the best days at work ever

Typical Berlin street and architecture scene, tram (always late) in the front and a Plattenbau (high-rise slab) in the back. The customer, my wife (the boss) and me had to get into the bushes to get the right angle. People were passing by and giving us the looks. I don’t know what they thought we were doing

This is one of the mansions in Germany with quite the history. You get the chills when you’re in the cellblocks in the basement, used by KGB and Stasi until the fall of the wall that are still accessible even though there are no spies anymore that could be exchanged over the nearby bridge of spies (Glienicker Brücke). Still – it is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever been in.⠀ In case you are interested: it is for sale

Back in – well actually, Berlin is on the other side of the lake. To your left you would see the bridge of spies, where – during the cold war – east Germany or the Soviet Union exchanged spies with west Germany or …well… the west. We spent a couple of days photographing a villa right at the lake that was used for so many different things but also as the final holding facility for those spies before they were sent back over to the west. They still have the cells in the otherwise fully renovated basement. What an exciting piece of history

This is like the visual equivalent of a fidget spinner – whenever I am bored, I look at this photograph. There’s always something new to discover

Sweden one more time. It took me a while to realise that Sweden has cold and warm lakes. This was a warm lake and still really refreshing in those Swedish summers

…like a damn painting. I wish I had learned to paint but that is something hat my hand are not really meant to do I guess – all I am capable of is taking photos. Well – it could be worse. I could be good at knitting

One of those little wooden houses that are so breathtakingly pretty. Let’s just stay here, fell a tree or two and build one of those. Kind of an overly manly thing to think, isnt it?

We’ve spent a lot of time at home or just visiting friends when we had some time off. One of this years unofficial new years resolutions is: see more.⠀ This is Sweden. Completely different than the region around the mediterranean sea but beautiful nonetheless

Our croatia trip is over and we are transitioning to sweden – and their photogenic stones again. I like stones – you got that, right? They are kind of like sand on the beach – but without sand EVERYWHERE when you leave the beach

The worlds most photogenic rocks. I can’t get enough of them. This kind of landscape makes me want to leave the city and move to the countryside

I have this vivid memory of pushing my little sister @sabriheintze off a dock into the crystal clear water in Yugoslavia when I was about 6 years old. One long war later and the new country Croatia is one of the most unexpectedly beautiful countries I’ve visited in the last years. To bad this visit is almost over but I want to thank the wonderful Croatians I’ve met along the way for their extraordinary hospitality. You have a wonderful country and a super relaxed way of life. Thank you

Let’s walk the dogs she said – It’ll be fun she said. And it was. The dogs spent more time in the water than on those ridiculously photogenic rocks. Not really something to walk on with bare feet

We parked the RV in the woods on this island – right by the beach – and started exploring. My wife took the camera, the kids their bikes and I carried the drone. It took us about an hour of walking and bicycling till we ended up in this bay with a 5 star hotel and private beach. After spending a few minutes enjoying the views of the rich and famous we started to walk back. We did come here to see more than just the beach after all. ⠀ ⠀ How do you guys travel? RV? Tent? 5 star hotel?⠀ ⠀ @earthstories might like this?

Just an astonishingly beautiful mediterranean coastline

Whenever I see those islands, I am astonished by the power of nature. And to be honest – nature’s design capabilities. They are unbelievably pretty

You never know who’s swimming naked until the tide goes out

There are people who need to be around a bunch of others to be happy. And there are others – like me – who have found the one person they want to spend the rest of their days with and merely tolerate all the others. These people dream of living in an RV, on a boat or on an island like this one. Close enough to shore to get groceries every once in a while but far enough to live without interruption. ⠀ I can’t be the only one dreaming of an island, or am I?

Life is dangerous and risky. Walking on the streets of a country where you don’t speak their language, getting out of your comfort zone, being uncertain about things. And then there is the most dangerous risk of all – the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover

2 of the sixteen feet wandering the rocky coast in Croatia. Who would have known what a beautiful country we would discover. We initially chose Croatia over Italy only because we were on a budget – but Losinj is one of the most amazing places I’ve seen so far. Wonderful people and divers landscapes wherever you go. – And coming up soon: finding dolphins while flying the drone over the see

The new year starts, everybody works on their new years resolutions – even the sky has a sixpack. It’s hard to find a place nowadays that is untouched – but even the agricultural structures look really pretty when you find the right angle

You don’t always need a plan. Sometimes you just need to leave
